A-bombed Tree

Muku Tree
(Shukkeien garden)
  2 Kaminobori-cho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima (Shukkeien garden)

  (2011.2.20)
It is located in the northwest corner of Shukkeien, and a wall is cut out along the tree.
It extends diagonally toward the river and looks weak because it is hollowing out.

  (2011.6.19)

When I visited there last time, it was in the deciduous season, so I visited it when there were leaves.
Although it is a hollow tree, it has many leaves.
A tree that survives the atomic bomb has a strong vitality.

  (2011.11.27)

I took a picture of the camera on the wall. You can see that it is hollow.
I am impressed that it survives well in this state
.

  (2012.3.11)

I visited Shukkeien to shoot plum blossoms.
After shooting, head for this tree.
A lot of people gather in the plum blossoms, but I am the only one who visits this tree.
I'm not impressed that this tree is like a fence that separates the garden from the outside.

  (2013.2.9)

It looks beautiful in the warm sunshine of winter.

  (2013.3.31)

It was the cherry blossom season and I visited Shukkeien.
The leaves of this tree are not open yet, but they are ready to open.

  (2018.5.4)

It looks like a dead tree when it comes to winter,
but it is covered with many leaves during the fresh green season.
I can't believe it because I'm watching winter.

  (2018.6.24)

  (2019.12.8)

I visited for shooting from outside Shukkeien.
I couldn't get close to it because it was a bush in the foreground,
but I found it was tilted in the opposite direction to the garden.

  (2020.6.20)

Many leaves are attached this year as well.

(2022.12.11)
This tree has been in bad shape for a long time.
This time, I confirmed that the root was damaged. This tree is in danger of dying.

(2023.1.22)
I agree with the idea that we should take care of the A-bombed trees,
but I think that the current state of barbed wire, which is a part of the fence,
goes against the saying that we should take care of them.
To convey a message, it is important to be able to express it.

<How to visit>

Please check the map on the left.

When you enter Shukkeien, walk toward the river on the north side and head toward the west side at the end.

If you can't enter Shukkeien, go north from Shukkeien-mae stop and turn right at the first road past the Prefectural Museum of Art.
